Peet’s Coffee – NE Broadway

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
From verified sourcing, to providing training to coffee farmers, to helping breed the climate-smart coffee plants of tomorrow, read how Peet’s is redefining what it means to be a responsible coffee purveyor today.

FARMER ASSISTANCE
If presented with the opportunity, every farmer we’ve met would choose to grow large amounts of high-quality coffee, and do so in a way that enriched not just their families but also their land and communities. This insight is what led us to create Farmer Assistance, a program that specifically assists farmers who have the potential to grow the specialty coffee the world now demands, but who, for a variety of reasons, lack the techniques needed to do so. While there is still far more to be done, with each season, we are seeing social and economic benefits take hold.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING
For decades, we have worked with producers and other coffee supply chain partners to ensure we source the highest quality coffees for our customers in a responsible manner. Over time, we’ve evolved our approach to better understand the realities growers face and the methods they use to grow and mill coffee. Through several programs we manage, we are gaining the insights that help point to places where we can celebrate successes and collaborate even more effectively with coffee producers to make improvements over time.

SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES AT ORIGIN
Part of the Peet’s ethos involves caring for our partners, communities, and each other. In that spirit, we invest in the people and places behind our coffees, contributing to projects and organizations that support coffee farmers, their communities, and the natural environment. Below are three long-time partners.

GREEN ROASTING AT HOME
We roast 100% of our coffees in the nation’s first LEED Gold Certified roasting facility. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
