PUP INVESTIGATES: sourced

sourced Blog  krowdsourced

PORTLAND, OR, September 26, 2019 – Every once in a while, an event comes around that Design Pup needs to learn more about.  So we put on our little pup trench coat, don our pup fedora, and puff on our little pup pipe as we grab our magnifying glass and begin to sniff around.  This week, the trail was hot as we followed it to the downtown offices of Krowdsourced.  The weather?  Cool and cloudy, but dry.  The building?  Pittock Block – familiar territory, home to several architecture, engineering, and design firms.  The people?  AMAZING.

We sat down with Shayna Liberman, Barketing Marketing Director, and Emma Abramowitz, Director of Events & Membership, to learn more about their upcoming trade show, Sourced.

What’s All This About?

So first things first, if you’re not familiar with Krowdsourced, here’s the elevator pitch of what they’re about:

Krowdsourced is a decision management platform for commercial construction professionals. We are dedicated to community building, information transparency, and giving everyone their time back. We’re building the world’s largest commercial construction database that connects architects, designers, and contractors with lightning-fast access to samples, product information, and their local reps.

The phrase “we are dedicated to community building” is what got our tails wagging, and coincidentally serves as the platform for their upcoming trade show.  “Sourced is really built around fostering community and connection,” shared Liberman. “So much of what we do is technology-based, it’s important for us to create opportunities for face-to-face interaction [through the trade show event.]”  With over 100 attendees signing up for the event in just the first three days since ticket sales went live, it’s clear that the community agrees.

“While the event is technically open to all, it’s really geared towards architects and designers – they’re the ones who will get the most out of this event,” Liberman continued.  “The show brings product and material resources to our design community through the inclusion of over 60 architecture, interiors, and furniture vendors.”  Check out the list:

Why Do I Need to Go?!?

Here at Design Pup, we have VERY serious work to do playing fetch, chasing our tail, and burying bones.  Don’t even get us started on the mailman.  So we wouldn’t take the time to investigate and promote this event if we didn’t truly believe in it, or in Krowdsourced as its organizer.  Why do we promote thee?  Let us count the ways:

  1. It’s Personal.  The vendor list was personally curated by the expert team at Krowdsourced, ensuring the highest quality products and companies are represented.
  2. The Keynotes.  Trade show aside, there are two fantastic keynotes at the event.  Valerie Carey, co-founder of Portland-based reclaimed lumber company Sankofa Lumber, headlines the early keynote, while the late keynote features a panel discussion with Miller Paint and Cargo as they explore 2020 color trends.  Color us impressed!
  3. The Food.  Tight Tacos and Gracie’s Pizza.  All day.  Need we say more?
  4. The Community.  Above all, this is an opportunity to get out in the community, to grow your knowledge as you grow your network, and to spend time in a fun, low-pressure environment surrounded by like-minded designers.
  5. It’s Free. So just do it.
