Portland Design Week for All

Design Portland Blog  Design Week Portland

MARCH 10, 2019 – If you’ve begun looking into Design Week Portland events, you’ll have noticed that our friends there have implemented a new subscription model. In order to have access to register for any DWP events, one must first become an annual member, above and beyond any ticket fees for the actual events.

We get it. We all gotta pay the bills. However. Here at Portland Design Events, we deeply, truly, whole-heartedly believe that design and conversations about design should be open and accessible for all. The new subscription model sets a barrier between attendees and events that, regardless of dollar amount, excludes members of our community from attending DWP events, for a variety of reasons, and including us.

So we did a little digging, and pulled up the public, direct URLs for each of the 193 DWP events. Except for nine that we couldn’t find (send those our way if you have them.) The links let you register for events without becoming a DWP member.  We created a master list and included all those public links below.

Look, if you want to pay the membership fee and go through the DWP site, go for it. They have real expenses and do a lot of work to make the week happen. But if you’re not into it, that fee should never be a barrier for you, and should never exclude you from attending amazing events put on by incredible organizers. So if you’re in that camp, like us, then feel free to register for the events directly through the links below.

We’ll never stop advocating for design, and we’ll never stop doing what we can to make it accessible for all.

Two Notes:

  1. Events, dates, and times subject to change without notice.  Contact the organizers directly for the most current schedule.
  2. Open Houses have been omitted from this list as most, if not all, are free.  However, a complete list of open houses and direct links for registration can be found via Eventbrite here.
