Calling for an architecture or engineering student with a passion for data science and sustainability!
Ankrom Moisan has received a 2020 Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship grant from Energy Trust of Oregon to hire an intern for a 12 week duration, starting January 2020. The internship is open to currently enrolled Architecture and Engineering students pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree.
The goal of the internship is to bring awareness of our projects' predicted EUI to our architectural staff and provide training and experience for an architecture or engineering student in performance design. Internally, the outcomes and tools produced by the interns will enable project teams to design higher performance buildings. The internship will be divided into three phases, giving the intern the opportunity to work within three different but related areas of our practice.
- Contribute to developing an indicator that can graphically communicate a project’s target and predicted energy use. Roll-out of this tool to a subset of projects as a beta test for use on all projects in all stages of design.
- Collection of project data for 2030 Commitment reporting in the Design Data Exchange. Develop data visualizations for inclusion in the 2020 Sustainability Action Plan update and other outreach materials.
- Research and analysis: design a research study that analyzes and compares existing EUI across approximately 3 completed projects within a specific product type, market sector, or client portfolio and identify reduced EUI opportunities for future projects.
The interns will share the knowledge they gain with their peers and the larger design community at an Energy Trust training and education event in April 2020.
Compensation and Schedule
Internship available for 12 weeks: January 6th through March 31st at a wage of $20/hr, 15-20+ hours per week. There is some opportunity to define your own schedule, but it must fit our general office hours of 8am-5pm. We also offer a $100 monthly transit benefit.
The Energy Trust of Oregon offers the 2020 Net Zero Emerging Leaders Internship Program to support students on a path to becoming leaders in their field, while also growing Oregon’s network of forward-thinking design professionals throughout the state.
